Reservoir pens; facilitating writing. -A fountain-pen barrel is provided with a gripping-portion of non-circular cross-section arranged so that the index finger is accommodated on a flat portion 2 of the barrel, which is provided with a nib-section 5 carrying the nib 6 at an angle of approximately 45‹ to the plane of the flat portion of the barrel. In a sac self-filling pen, the operating-lever is mounted in the flat portion. The front and rear ends of the barrel are provided with tubular extensions 3<1>, 9 respectively on which the cap can be mounted, and the rear extension can be provided with a rotatable section for actuating nib-retracting mechanism. The axis of the. rear extension may coincide with or be displaced relatively to the axis of the barrel.
